The rustic century-old Edelweiss Inn next to the Wallowa Lake Tramway has been the home of Oregon's Alpenfest since its inception in 1975. The building's storied history includes time as an Elks Club retreat, a dance hall, a roller-skating rink and an event center. There are legends of scandalous behavior, too.
The surrounding Wallowa Mountains and Wallowa Lake comprise one of the 7 Wonders of Oregon, offering plenty of outdoor activities. There also are art galleries and quaint shops in nearby Joseph and Enterprise.
